Frankenstein, Mary Shelley.

My heart is black. It stinks. My mind, once filled with dreams of beauty is a furnace of revenge. Three years ago when I was born I laughed for joy at the heat of the sun. I cried at the call of the birds. The world was a cornucopia to me, now it is a waste of frost and snow.

“An edition of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein laid out using characters and glyphs from PDF documents obtained through internet searches. The incomplete fonts found in the PDFs were reassembled into the text of Frankenstein based on their frequency of use. The most common characters are employed at the beginning of the book, and the text devolves into less common, more grotesque shapes and forms toward the end.”
I’m afraid to say I just treated myself to the hardcover edition of this. It’s simply too beautiful for words. Not cheap, but the proceeds go towards Donors Choose, buying textbooks for students.
Here’s the actually photo I got hold of a long while back. Much better quality than the previous programme scan. And speaking of Frankenstein, has Channel 4 forgotten about the documentary they promised to air in September? Still no updates on the exact air date…
